BIOGRAPHY

Sculptor, painter, photographer, storyteller, and filmmaker, Brian Sarinova uses a multi-media approach to reveal the allegory that lies within the vision. Brian loves the challenge of building large-scale works of art, which require him to innovate and venture beyond perceived technical limits. Inspired by the world around him and Influenced by his artistic parents, Brian’s passion for drawing took off at the age of 8. Throughout his childhood he had one foot in the theater and one foot in the visual arts, explored an array of different media and even created a short Claymation film called Dinosaurs at age 13. By 19, he had completed his first professional body of work, which now resides in the homes of art collectors.

At age 20 he started his own business as a muralist, scene painter and faux painter, just before going on to college, where he began sculpting in clay and turning his work into bronze. This led him to a professional sculpting career working as the lead sculptor for a company contracted by Disney, while continuing his involvement in the technical world of theater.

Eager to seek out new horizons, he took his sculpting, painting and theater careers with him to New Mexico, where he completed many public arts commissions for various parks and businesses (2000-2008: Bronze Firefighter Memorial, Wichita. Museum of Science and History Human Heart Sculpture, El Paso. Project Water tower mural, Tularosa. Billy the Kid Visitor Center Mosaic Mural. Alameda Zoo Water-Fountain Sculptural Mosaic and Mosaic Mural. In Ruidoso: Kids Connection Park Mosaic Mural, Wingfield Park Mosaic Monument, Dog Park Monument, Wall of Courage Firefighter Memorial, -the largest mosaic memorial in the country.) Having done so many public works, the Mayor of Ruidoso, L. Ray Nunley, in 2009, declared September 9th “Sarinova Day.”

While producing these public works, and maintaining his career as a professional artist in the media of clay, and oil on canvas, he created several art businesses, consisting of torch-blown glass, ceramic mosaics, and faux painting. He had the privilege to work with famous artists including Luis Jimenez, Lincoln Fox, and James Muir, and in film with Mena Suvari and Brian Austin Green (Don't Blink, 2010), and Denzel Washington (Book of Eli, 2009). Within the last few years of living in NM, Brian began writing and producing his own films, (Ademus, 2013, Enigma, 2011, Apparent Solution, 2009.)

After 17 years in New Mexico, Brian was called back to California. Currently, Brian is living in Santa Cruz, focusing on large-scale sculptures, works on canvas, architectural and interior design, photography and film production. (Public Commissions 2014-2017: Sea Cliff Park, Sculptural Elements, Aptos. Tannery Arts Center Mosaic. Hampton Inn Mission St. Sculptural Koi Mosaic Installation. Court of Mysteries National Historic Monument Sculptural Fountain and Water Feature.)

Brian continues to be fascinated by the shifting relationships between archetypal forms, the abstract, and their viewers.
